Safety of journalists workshop: Register to participate

The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) in collaboration with Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) will host a workshop on the state of freedom of expression in Uganda on 20th September 2023. The workshop will focus on the safety of journalists amidst rising threats to freedom of expression.

The workshop will help journalists identify practical solutions to ensure their safety while performing their duties. The workshop promises to be an interactive platform for media practitioners to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and address safety concerns arising from their work line. By facilitating open dialogue, we hope to create a supportive network that can collectively address challenges and build resilience within the media community.

Objectives
– To identify practical solutions and mechanisms to ensure the safety of journalists.
– To provide an opportunity for journalists to discuss safety concerns arising from their work.
– To increase awareness of the risks and threats to freedom of expression faced by journalists.

Expected outcome
– Practical solutions and mechanisms to ensure the safety of journalists
– Increased awareness of the role of the media in a democratic society and better appreciation of the importance of freedom of the press.
– Increased awareness of the safety risks faced by journalists.

This opportunity is open to all media practitioners including reporters, editors, managers, producers, presenters, and other content creators.  Only 20 participants will be selected.
