TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR A MEDIA TRAINER
BACKGROUND
Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) is a non-partisan media development organization based in Gulu but with operations covering greater northern Uganda. NUMEC was conceived to revitalize the media and communications terrain and to catalyze development in the region. In partnership with Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA), NUMEC is promoting digital awareness and safety among journalists in northern Uganda. To that effect, NUMEC seeks the services of a competent consultant to conduct two one-day pieces of training in Gulu and Lira on digital safety and online harassment. The individual must be knowledgeable in digital security, online content creation, and dissemination. The training will take place in Gulu and Lira on Monday, 24th October, and Tuesday, 1st November 2022 respectively.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Review findings from the survey on the extent of use of digital platforms in northern Uganda
- Work closely with the NUMEC team to develop the training content and program. Training material will be submitted to NUMEC 10 days before the training.
- Prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the training covering digital safety for journalists, countering mis/disinformation and cyberbullying, and harassment
- Prepare a training report after completion of the task
- Lead in training sessions deploying participatory approaches
- Provide technical support, information, and referrals to trainees on digital safety, cyber harassment, and emerging issues around online safety.
- Assume full responsibility for complying with the requirements of Copyright laws with respect to any training materials provided for the Training.
- Acknowledge/cite sources and training materials, where applicable
DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT
The assignment is expected to take utmost ten (10) days to cover the development of training materials, training program, conducting the training, and writing of training reports
